An association of more than 3,000 Optimist Clubs around the world dedicated to "Bringing Out the Best in Kids." Optimist Clubs conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best they can be. Each Optimist Club determines the needs of the young people in its community and conducts programs to meet those needs. Every year, Optimists conduct 65,000 service projects and serve well over six million young people.

The Pacific Southwest District [PSWD] is one of three Southern California based administrative units of Optimist

International and encompasses several counties in Central and Southern California. More than 70 indiviual Optimist Clubs are included in this service organization of men and women, boys, and girls, dedicated to assisting youth and their families in our communities.

The Optimist Dad’s Day Dash is a 5K-10K-1K Kids Fun Run that celebrates Father’s Day every June. It is a Healthy family friendly Race. Proceeds go to the Brain Cancer Research Facility at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital Pediatric Oncology Unit, and to the Kids Cancer Connection Foundation, which provides counseling and support for the young patients undergoing treatment at the UCLA Children’s Cancer clinic.
